New Game Concept!

Hello, Lyons here.

Today I am happy to announce the beginning of our first game design concept, which we are tentatively calling The MoonMen Project.

It is going to be a simulation/strategy game based on real scientific principles of space travel, colonization and utilization of extraterrestrial resources.

The gameplay mechanics are still in their nascent stage, but what we can tell you is that the first tutorial mission takes place on the moon, in the year 2040. The player will begin with some basic amenities, such as a small communications center, solar power plants, a couple of housing units, a vehicle hangar containing a miner and a scout vehicle, and a small manufactory that processes minerals and ore for construction purposes.

The first resources that will need to be mined are water and silicon, which are in abundance on the moon, and the collection process will appear similar to the way Spice was harvested in Dune II, that is to say, large swaths of land will be scoured by a miner as opposed to a miner simply going to some crystal cluster or some mine somewhere and 'collecting' stuff.

The player will need to harvest minerals and sell them back to Earth in order to be supplied with food until they can build their own methods of food production.

Here is some concept art for the colony ship. Keep in mind that this will probably change, and I am only putting this up because I just want a pic on this blog.
